frg-spring-2017

This semester Feminist Reading Group will meet the following Monday evenings from 6:30–8:00pm in the Jordan Center (2nd floor, through the doors, end of the hallway on the left) in 19 University Place at NYU: Jan. 30, Feb. 13, Feb. 27, Mar. 20, Apr. 3, Apr. 17, and May 1.

Consider the long history of how things have been given away or shared
across space, of making new space by sharing, sharing before origin,
before the proper gift, infused, macerated, in theft and flight—the
romance of freedom in the commons, indiscrete hand of the open
source and the open sore. . . .
.     .     .     .     .     .     .     .     .     .     .     .     .     .     .     .     .     .     .     .     .     .     .     .
The commons is a ruin, an abbey, with a concert in
the middle. Overgrown and flown away, remember where you going.

—Fred Moten, “code & tone,” Hughson’s Tavern (Leon Works, 2008), 73.
